When I was seven, I moved to El Salvador with my family to serve as missionaries for five years. While living there, I witnessed severe poverty and crime. My father was shot in the neck, however, we stayed for another 3 years after he recovered. I participated in the construction of houses, churches and a pipeline to bring running water to communities.
